This week, Professor Campbell Booth (PI ENSIGN – IES-DT Project) and Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer (Co-I ENSIGN – IES-DT Project – WP5: Industrial Cluster Sub Digital Twin) participated in the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Sino-British Engineering Cooperation Steering Committee at Prince Philip House, London.
The meeting welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and was co-chaired by Sir Jim McDonald GBE FREng FRSE, Principal of the University of Strathclyde and former President of the Academy and Jianfeng Chen CAE Member, Secretary General of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).
This event was part of a larger visit by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) to the UK, focusing on Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS). Throughout the week, activities included a UK-China CCUS seminar at PPH and site visits to the Translational Energy Research Centre & Sustainable Aviation Fuels Innovation Centre at The University of Sheffield, as well as the Tyseley Energy Park Energy Innovation Centre at the University of Birmingham.
The Steering Committee plays a key role in overseeing and guiding the cooperation’s initiatives. Its goals include fostering collaboration through roundtables and workshops, bringing together experts from the UK and China in specific technology and discipline areas. The insights gathered aim to support government objectives in policy, research, and innovation, including collaborations with DSIT and UKRI China.
