At the close of year five of the Tay Cities Regional Deal, it has been reported that the funding has led to the creation of 69 new jobs, the safeguarding of 500 jobs, and provided employment for 490 individuals involved in the construction of the Eden Campus at the University of St Andrews.

Three of the Ensign Work Packages are leveraging the various renewable technologies at Eden Campus, including a biomass boiler, 1 MW of solar panels with battery storage, and the Hydrogen Living Laboratory (HLL). These technologies will be used to model the campus as a small-scale version of the broader digital twin currently in development.

The Work Packages involved are:

  • WP1 Whole System Integration
  • WP4 Hydrogen Sub Digital Twin
  • WP5 Industrial Cluster Sub Digital Twin
