We’re proud to share that Professor Campbell Booth has been appointed Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Associate Principal of the University of Strathclyde, effective 1st September 2025.
A two-time Strathclyde graduate, Professor Campbell Booth has been a cornerstone of the University for nearly four decades. His journey from student to lecturer, Head of Department, and Vice-Dean for Research reflects his deep commitment to engineering excellence and innovation.
Professor Campbell Booth is internationally recognised for his expertise in power system protection and digital energy systems, and is the Principal Investigator of the £5 million EPSRC Prosperity Partnership, funded ENSIGN – IES-DT project, a groundbreaking initiative developing digital twin technologies to transform the UK’s energy infrastructure.
He is also co-founder of Synaptec, a successful University of Strathclyde spin-out delivering advanced sensing solutions for energy and transport sectors.
His appointment comes as Professor Stephen McArthur steps into the role of Principal & Vice-Chancellor. Professor Campbell Booth’s vision for engineering is bold and inspiring: “Engineering is central to society and has a leading role to play in tackling some of the biggest challenges of our age.”
We’re excited to see the Faculty of Engineering continue to thrive under his guidance, driving impactful research, innovation, and collaboration across disciplines.
