Professor John Irvine was an invited speaker at AVL’s flagship event, Drive to Innovate, held at Silverstone International Conference Centre on Thursday 11th September 2025.
The event brought together leaders and innovators from the automotive, motorsport, aerospace, marine, and rail sectors to explore the technologies shaping the future of mobility — from electrification and hydrogen propulsion to advanced ICE development, simulation, and data intelligence.
John presented on “Materials at the Heart of the Energy Transition: Unlocking Innovation Across Land, Sea and Air”, how breakthroughs in materials science – from solid-oxide fuel cells to next-generation hydrogen technologies – are enabling cleaner, more resilient, and scalable energy solutions.
