Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer, Director of the Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC) and Co-Investigator of Ensign WP5 “Industrial Cluster Digital Twin” at Heriot-Watt University, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming IEEE Technology Summit 2025: CleanTech Solutions, held in Glasgow on 2–3 October 2025.

This international summit will convene over 300 participants from across academia, industry, government, and civil society to explore the future of clean technology. The two-day programme will focus on scalable innovation in areas such as:

Mercedes will contribute to the Opening Session, titled “Human Factors at the Heart of CleanTech Innovation”, alongside Gavin Slater, Head of Sustainability at Glasgow City Council. This panel will examine the human, financial, and societal drivers of clean innovation, highlighting emerging trends and the critical enablers needed to turn ideas into lasting impact.
