Big news for the future of home heating in England

A key planning restriction on heat pumps has been lifted, removing the rule that required installations to be at least 1 metre from a neighbour’s property. This change, part of the Government’s Warm Homes Plan, is aimed at accelerating the uptake of low-carbon heating by making it easier for millions of homes to install heat pumps—without needing planning permission.

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of meeting with our colleagues at the University of St Andrews to discuss the ENSIGN project WP4: Hydrogen Digital Twin. It was a productive session filled with great insights and good progress. A special highlight was being picked up and dropped off by John Irvine in the Hyundai Nexo Hydrogen Fuel Cell car! Work Package 4: Hydrogen Digital Twin – 70 kW PEM Fuel Cell

The 614 Hydrogen train, which was showcased at Bo’ness, will soon have its 70 kW Ballard fuel cell system relocated to Eden Campus at St Andrews University in Fife.

The IET’s International conference series: Developments in Power System Protection (DPSP)

Over the past week, Professor Campbell Booth participated in the IET DPSP Conference at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This conference, one of the few dedicated exclusively to power system protection, brought together experts from over 30 countries to discuss emerging challenges and innovations in power system protection.
