Chancellors Fellow – WP1 Lead – University of Strathclyde

Dr Graeme Hawker is the WP1 lead, ensuring integration and inter operation of models from WP2-5. He is a Chancellors Fellow at University of Strathclyde, and an expert in multi-carrier energy simulation/optimisation and Whole System Modelling. Dr Hawker currently acts as the Deputy Lead of the UK Energy Research Centre’s Theme on Energy Infrastructure Transitions (EP/S029575/1) and is a member of CIGRE Working Group 1.47 on Energy Sector Integration and Impacts on Power Grids.

His other interests include:

  • Macro-level carbon budgeting (in particular using the TIMES modelling framework)
  • Low-carbon heating technologies
  • Local energy systems
  • Operation and control of large wind farms in transmission networks
  • Risk and reliability in power networks
  • Machine learning for failure prediction
